Barbara Kinney has been a pastor’s wife for many years. She has had many experiences in ministry, along with her husband, and many of them have been written about in her new book, “The Life of a Pastor’s Wife.” She has interviewed pastor’s wives extensively from all over the country and Canada and brings a wealth of information, knowledge and inspiration for pastor’s wives as well as other women in church-work. These live experiences from those interviewed bring wisdom and wit; some are unbelievable and heart wrenching. But all are true and rich with spiritual lessons which can be applied in busy demanding church life.
This book attempts to show what a woman’s life will be like as a pastor’s wife. This book is not only for pastor’s wives, but also a must for all members in the congregation (both men and women) because it gives a revealing glimpse of the many ups and downs of a pastor’s family living in the fish bowl.
Barbara Kinney has had a varied career which includes the position of Director of Mentoring at a pregnancy resource center and Board certified counselor. She is also the author of other books including Expectant Mom and Happy Parenting. Previously she wrote a humorous column for newspaper entitled, “Literary Lines.”
Besides being a pastor’s wife Barbara maintains, however, that her main career is wife, mother of 4 daughters and grandmother of 14 grandchildren. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree along with counseling certification. She also has 20 years of teaching music in the public and private schools. Her music endeavors include Family Music Ministry Concerts and it was for many years a professional French hornist in several symphony orchestras.
Her husband says simply, “I couldn’t do it without her. She is a constant source of advice and help.”
